Today, I was sharing my worries on the phone with a friend and a storm suddenly swelled up and lightning flashed. Each shock of lightning punctuated the sage advice that she gave to me. With those transformative words, I was ready to see this video and take to heart what Elizabeth Gilbert had to say on nurturing creativity.

Packing it in to move on...
Happy Bastille Day. In honor of this day, I have photoshopped my friend Kay's lapin nain into a revolutionary. (My warm feelings have decreased since said lapin bit me last night.

Some sounds to reminisce to:
Random Musical Goodness
Moving and apartment hunting will take up the rest of the week, but I will update with shots of Vermont and Montreal Graffiti before the end of the week.

Montreal Move Making Music!
Listen to these mixes to get yourself moving when you're in the studio:
Popular Pop KULTURE
It's delish! An ecletric mix of pop, classical, contemporary arrangements and experimental. You'll get up, sit down and work, work, work!
POPKULTURE!
The Lacrimosa is totally worth it!
Hard Swinging Big Bands
I actually prefer Big Band and vocals, but instrumental sometimes just gets you in the right spot.
Give "Sister Sadie" a listen.

Where have I been?
Mostly here and there and out of the country. I think the radio silence can best be summed up in form of song and a Musical number from "Bye Bye Birdie."

Mode et Design Festival @ McGill University
Here are a few selected shots from the Festival Mode et Design Montreal
I only briefly attended the Festival, catching only Bedo (a chain store here in Montreal) and Tony Jordan for Lingerie Couture.
Here are some shots from Tony Jordan (Bedo was not exciting enough to warrant uploading here.)

On both nights that I went I got lucky to listen to some Montreal Bands. During the Tony Jordan for Lingerie Couture, Plastik Patrik played, all covers though. Glam as hell, but even in his g-string glory, he could only hold a candle to Fritz Helder and the Phantoms
First off:
Glorious fashion? Check
Ass long weave on lead singer? Check
Songs about fashion and poses on the catwalk? Check!
Actual dancing and striking of said poses that would put a model to shame? Check!
Was I totally in love? Check.
Here's a sample to goggle after!

Montreal Biennale Part 2
Shop Dropping:
Artist Natalie Reis and designer Vanda Daftari have a collaborative project that spanned the Island of Montreal. It was a toss up between this piece and "Obesessions are useful professionally but inane in real life"

Downtown Montreal Grafitti Part 1
It's Summer here and it's not summer without some amazing work being done on the buildings downtown. It seems like it's just heating up. I'm finding more and more great work every time I go downtown.

Looks like Kanyezzy's Big Brother has something to say. Apparently so does he. Kanye and No ID produced this track.
My associate Kay argues that it is in fact a reference to the artists that brought us songs like: Birthday Sex and Pop Champagne, And annything Flo-Rida(I admit there is some hate because of his name). I'm not even going to get into Busta Rhymes and the hot mess that was "Arab Money." Seriously Busta, you have fallen off. Extinction Level Event was amazing.

The Montreal Biennale 2009 Part 1
For everyone that missed the Montreal Biennale (which is not terribly hard to do this year, since it crept into town and went out on a whisper) Here is some photo documentation:
To be honest, I was somewhat disappointed. Although the Themes of "open Source/Open Culture" seem so promising, the result felt a bit like a let down.

In need of Happy....Synthesis
As I prep to move to NY, I find myself trying to mesh Montreal and New York into a single harmonious entity so that I can transition. Of course it doesn't work. Everything I have learned, art wise and living in an urban environment is being synthesized as I prep for the next step in life. This week seems like it's going to be rainy. This should help fill in the gaps.

In between serious research(playing the sims3)
Although I have been very seriously exploring the interactivity of The Sims3 and fully intend to write more about it...I am still playing. I also will follow up with some images from Motreal's ill fated Biennial.

Have a Safe Trip to Finland Henna
Oddly enough Bas Jan Ader seemed really appropriate to me today. I was good at smiling and waving as I got on the elevator as if I was going to my studio on a normal day and she was going to class. Then the elevator ride was normal as ever. Only after I walked to my studio did I start crying. I caught a glimpse of my ugly crying face and thought of this:
I didn't hear her knock later and only got to see the posted note. Tears ensued.

Montreal Murals- The Plateau
I was hunting for a terrasse and some wine to enjoy Memorial Day with my visiting friend Alison. We eventually found the terrasse and wine, but on the way, we stopped for some murals. I'm still looking for great street art out there, let me know if anyone sees something that I should check out.

Bad Dreams
Sometimes you have a moment of insecurity, whether it's your work, relationships, finances or general place in the world. Often my solution is to have an activity that helps me work out these insecurities. Usually it's running, or taking along walk somewhere. In light of the good weather in Montreal lately, I will be listening to what that anxious feeling I had earlier was telling me: go run.

Montreal Grafitti - Monkland Village
I was walking around Monkland Village in NDG in my completely unstandard 10 mile walk for the day and finally got to see this up close. I'm a huge sucker for street art and am finally getting in the habit of actually documenting more and more of what I see.
The geek inside of me loves Mario. The part of me that wishes I could draw like this just wishes I wasn't such a suburban valley girl.

Setting the correct tone
This blog was born out of me simply posting too much to twitter. Seriously. I think having 13 updates in 30 minutes was verging on too much. I was also not getting outside of my apartment, which is fine in the winter, but it's springtime in Montreal and I live in a basement. It's just not appropriate any longer. Whenever I hear this song, it gets me motivated to get moving.
Who says that fine artists can't get crunk?
Who says that fine artists can't get crunk?
Beginning at the well..beginning
There are a myriad of goals that I have for this blog. I think I wanted something lofty and ever reaching, or maybe just really fucking cool. Unfortunately, I am rather geeky, introverted, spastic and kinda nebulous. I will have to deal with being that way and being like that in this blog.
